“...the rapport is obvious... This trumpet/guitar duet is just as stark as you might imagine, but time and again on the new ‘Bridges’ they make small gestures extend their impact.  Brass player Tiner uses mutes to amend his sound and string man Baggetta employs a variety of picking techniques to assure his sonic breadth. But the charm comes from the allure of a poetic sensibility. There’s lots of open space to digest the last smoky phrase or a recent exclamation point.” - Jim Macnie, Lament for a Straight Line

“On ‘Bridges,’ their 3rd CD, one is quite aware of the other member of the group - silence... ‘Bridges’ contains beauty built of melody, interplay and friendship. One might say this is "escapist music" of the highest order, not raging against the inequities of the everyday but a celebration of the creative spirit that Kris Tiner and Mike Baggetta bring to their collaborations. We are the beneficiaries.” - Richard Kamins, Step Tempest

“...a memorably melodic, minimalistic, impeccably tasteful mix of original compositions for guitar and trumpet... The chemistry between the two is quietly dynamic and richly effective.” - Lucid Culture

“It’s probably difficult to imagine a duo of guitar and trumpet to be lush and full sounding, but Tiner and Baggetta are able to pull it off without a hitch as they easily draw the listener into an absorbing journey... Both players eschew the typical and predictable chops and cliches. The result is an incredibly musical CD worth checking out.” - Eric Elias, Just Jazz Guitar

Trumpeter Kris Tiner and Guitarist Mike Baggetta revisit their personal and sensitive approach to duo playing with ‘Bridges’ on MabnotesMusic. This album reveals their musical aesthetic clearer than any other to date and the results are beautiful and other-worldly. Funded, in part, through a grant from the American Composers Forum, ‘Bridges’ was recorded on tour at Systems Two in Brooklyn, NY and features Tiner’s ‘Transpersonal Series’ of compositions, 2 new originals contributed by Baggetta and a graceful reading of Bob Dylan’s ‘Just Like A Woman.’
